Your questions and comments are important to us.
As part of my final project during my BSc (Hons) degree I worked with an international team on a sport finder app, from initial concept, empathy maps and product definition documents to user interviews, interactive mockups and user testing. Currently I am working with software engineers to bring the product to market.
1. Conducting competitive analysis – Finding apps that are similar to the one we were designing. Paying attention to which parts of the apps we liked and which parts we did not like, and why.
2. Identifying users – Building user personas to understand how potential users will interact with the app, which activities they perform and what content they would expect.
3. Prioritising features – To make the app more attractive to users, we limited the app’s features by prioritising what’s important and trimming nice-to-have features. The most successful apps available on the market are highly focused and present a limited set of features.
4. Testing the design – To test our mock-ups and functional prototypes, small qualitative surveys were used to gather rich feedback and help us to discover which questions to ask in our quantitative survey. Direct dialog was also used to give us more rich information about our users.
